An overseas parcel is handled many times on its way: collected from your door, sorted at our hub in Bangkok, loaded, unloaded and finally delivered. Good packing is what keeps the contents safe through all of that. These are the simple habits that make the biggest difference.
Start with a sturdy box
Use a strong cardboard box in good condition, with no tears, soft corners or water damage. A box that has already travelled once is weaker than a new one, and for heavier contents a double-walled box gives extra strength. Choose a size that fits the contents with a little room for padding, but not so large that things can slide around.
Fill the space and protect fragile items
Nothing inside the box should move. Fill every gap with padding such as bubble wrap, crumpled paper or air pillows. Give the box a gentle shake when you are done: if you can feel or hear anything shifting, add more filling.
Wrap fragile items one by one, so they cannot knock against each other. Put heavier things at the bottom and lighter ones on top, and keep a layer of padding between the contents and the walls of the box.
Seal, weigh and label
Seal every seam with strong packing tape, not just the middle join on the top and bottom. If you are reusing a box, remove old labels and barcodes or cover them completely, so there is no confusion about where the parcel is going.
Weigh and measure the parcel after packing, not before. The price depends on the weight, and for some services on the size too, so the box and the padding count. Enter the packed weight and size when you book.
After you pay, a Download label button appears on your order page once the collection with our courier partner is booked. Print the label and stick it flat on the largest side of the box, where it will not be folded over an edge.
What you should never send
Some things cannot go in a parcel at all, because they are dangerous in transport or not allowed across borders:
- Flammable or explosive items, such as lighter fluid, fireworks and aerosols with flammable gas
- Weapons
- Illegal drugs
- Cash
- Perishable food
- Live animals
Lithium batteries are heavily restricted by airlines. If you plan to send anything with a battery inside, such as a phone, a power bank or a small gadget, check with us before you book.
Some destinations also restrict more than this list, for example food, medicines or cosmetics. Rules differ from country to country, so if you are unsure about an item, contact us before booking. And whatever you pack, list it honestly when you book: the items in the box should match the items you declare.
